Area Description :
Sardinia, the second largest island placed in the midst of the mediterranean, is one of the most beautiful places in the world. With over 1800 km of coastline and its wild landscapes attracts many visitors from all the europe. The sun shines all year long, the weather is mild with an average of ten degrees centigrades in winter. Local cuisine, very different from the other regions of italy, has the scent of charcoal and the aromatic flavours of myrtle and juniper. The island produces also superb grapes and renowned wines as cannonau, intense red color, or vermentino, pale yellow. The first vivid impression after landing is the perfume of mediterranean shrub: this largely unspoilt region is a dream for nature lovers. “extraordinary how the healthy, moor-like hills come near the sea extraordinary how scrubby and uninhabited the great spaces of sardinia are. It is wild, with heath and arbutus scrub and a sort of myrtle, breast-high. Sometimes one sees a few head of cattle. And then again come the greyish arable-patches, where the corn is grown. It is like cornwall, like the land's end region.” - d.H.Lawrence. Cala liberotto is a small enclave in the gulf of orosei (east coast of sardinia). The gulf 's morphology offers a rich variety of forms: from long beaches of finest sand, to cliffs of pink rocks, bordered by pinaster, juniper and myrtle. The sea is crystal clear with turquoise nuance. The place is calm, ideal for family or rest. Orosei has also an interesting historical centre and nuragic ruins, enigmatic conic buildings of the megalithic period. The gulf of orosei, that will soon turn into a sea park, is the perfect image of an island full of nature.
